INADVISABILITY OF THE NEW ADMINISTRATIVE STRUCTURE BY OFFICE OF THE PASTOR
On the 9th of June 2021, the office of our Pastor released a new administrative structure to the general congregation of Celestial Church of Christ worldwide. This new administrative system nullified the existing system that the church operates; The Dioceses to Arch Dioceses to Provinces to Circuit to District to Parish.
Firstly, the office of the Pastor never informed the congregation of Celestial Church of Christ whether the new administrative system was a unanimous decision by the new constituted Pastor-in-Council, the new constituted Board of Trustees with the Office of the Pastor to have a new administrative structure.
This new administrative structure really calls for urgent concern putting into consideration the internal crisis rocking the foundation of the church. It’s an obvious fact that the office of the Pastor knew that the Church does not have some of the requirements to make this new administrative structure operate effectually using the new framework introduced by the office of our Pastor.
The new structure place some major requirements as a standard for all parishes to apply:-
PAYMENT OF ADMINISTRATIVE FEE (RENEWAL EVERY 3 YEARS)
The Office of the Pastor is on the move of playing politics with thousands of parishes in Celestial Church, there is an existing court judgment which stopped the church from opening any bank account; which the Pastor went to Appeal Court over the Judgment at Ilaro Court didn’t justify that the lower court judgment has been totally erase, it’s just a Status Quo pending the determination of the appellate court.
If the Office of the Pastor ask parishes to apply for the new administrative system; which account will money be paid to?
Is it the same account that the dissolved BOT are signatory to?
Will money be paid in by cash?
Who will account for any misappropriation of funds since the new BOT has not been inaugurated?
If a particular parish doesn’t have the financial strength to renew her application, what will happen to such parish?
Can a parish of 5 years old apply for Area Parish or Administrative Division Parish if such parish has the financial power to do so?
Will it be a competition of money among parishes in Celestial Church?
This steps will further bring division in Celestial Church, while another faction might emerge from this unfriendly policy. This steps will also justify the comments of some members that the Office of the Pastor is another building called “ASO ROCK” which is against the speech of the Pastor on the inauguration of the Pastor in Council that everything will be accounted for.
REGISTRATION OF CLERGIES’
It’s a thwack to the Office of the Pastor to be talking about clergies registration without making use of modern technology in 21th Century; this section clearly shows that the Pastor’s Office never had a standardized framework of the Clergies, because the Pastor’s Office can’t highlight a new structure without explaining the benefit to the Clergies; the Pastor’s Office is another “Aso Rock” to Clergies in Celestial Church.
UP TO DATE RETURN PAYMENT
Section 182 of our Constitution highlights the share of the Pastor’s return, which makes it a fundamental right that each parish makes financial return to the Pastor according to the Church Constitution. However, it also needs to be clear that the Pastor’s Return shouldn’t be a major factor in the new Administrative Structure, what if a Parish has been paying it’s return regularly, but suddenly such parish is faced with some financial struggle, what will happen to such Parish from the Office of the Pastor?
An institution of over 70 years of existence shouldn’t be conscious of what comes in from her branches always, the new structure should develop modern ways on how to strengthen the financial base of parishes under their jurisdiction because majority of the Parishes in Celestial Church are in Nigeria, while the economic situation is not stable, Killing of citizens is increasing, bandit, kidnapping with religion conflict at it’s peck. Yet the Office of the Pastor had never for once come out publicly to condemn such act, but only concerned about payment of return as a requirement in the new Administrative Structure.
REGISTRATION WITH REQUIREMENTS OF THE CHURCH CONSTITUTION
It’s a standard rule that a parish must register under the law of the Church, but will it be a new registration of all existing parishes that had registered their parish years back?
If the new Administrative System can’t establish a portal on the church website for new parishes that will be created; while the Pastor’s Office move the file of registered parishes to an online database portal; then the new Administrative System is a scam and the print/media department of the Pastor’s Office including the Pastor’s Office should be scrapped.
A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE PASTOR FOR PAROCHIAL COMMITTEE ELECTION
Any new Administrative Structure that dosen’t fall under the jurisdiction of Celestial Church of Christ Constitution is null and void; section 122 of our Constitution to section 126 of our Constitution did not talked about Pastor’s representative in a Parochial Committee election; however section 126 sub section (a) give the Pastor power to dissolve a Parochial Committee that is not functioning in the best interest of the Church, while the Pastor should order a reelection process; but the constitution never mention Pastor’s Representative in a Parochial Committee election. We should work in accordance of the laws given to us by the saint.
AVOID REJECTION OF PASTORAL DIRECTIVES
Section 108 of our Constitution to section 110 of our Constitution gave the Pastor the full right to determine all activities of the Church; however after the demise of the Founding Pastor, the Church had constantly experience leadership tussle, this new Administrative Structure on the Pastor’s autonomy will be fully respected; only if all the internal crisis are resolved, then the Pastor’s directives will have strength because some of these laws might be rejected by some influential parishes.

It’s a standard that parishes should have an administrative office for proper documentation, but the new Administrative Structure on the above listed point will only happen if the Office of the Pastor can be fully digitalized. As majority of the structural changes will need to start from the Pastor’s Office, where the print/media department of the Pastor’s Office will have to develop various software application, where the admin department will change their mode of operation before the new Administrative System can ask parishes to have active email address and mobile number.

The Office of the Pastor should release the names, address and number of parishes in each state first, then the new Administrative Structure will be open for discussion.
