Personally, I don’t know everything about the gospel music industry in Nigeria but I listen to Tope Alabi.

In fact, I listen to her everyday!

Her music blesses me a lot.

I still listened Moriyanu this morning before I began the ‘start your day ‘ prayers,

I know many of her songs by heart, from 10 years back.

I mean full albums.

I am not here to justify if Jesus is Oniduro or not.

All I know is ministers make mistakes, either intentionally or unintentionally.

The best of men are men.

What is however wonderful to me is HOW PEOPLE FLIP ON YOU THESE DAYS IN MICRO SECONDS.

It is like people are patiently waiting for you to make a mistake and cash in on it.

All of a sudden, I am seeing all kinds of posts about her.

Oh she is uncouth, oh she is proud, oh there are many singers who have testified she is envious etc

All over what?

I thought people were going to debunk her error and do it just doctrinally, and that’s all.

But the matter has quickly become an assault on her person and ministry. Folks brazenly invalidating her ministry over something that wasn’t even said to them.

How does a minister bless you for years and you find a wrong in the fellow in terms of character and you basically flip on the fellow.

For the first time in my life , i am beginning to really loathe the idea of popularity, it appears to me, we can live a life time being so popular but never really loved. A sick essence to existence. A deeply sick one.

People quickly found the other singer as their new love, a person thousands didn’t even know until Tope Alabi mentioned her, at least, I didn’t know the other woman of God at all.

Never even heard the said song.

She quickly gained a mass solidarity, just to shame Tope Alabi.

But why?

I hope the other woman knows better than to quickly accept the validation as love.

I hope she is that wise.

Hopefully, she maximises this opportunity and becomes a household name.

Hopefully, she remembers that thesame people who crucified Tope Alabi will be quick to do same to her should she make any such mistake.

Hopefully, she knows that this is not a case of people falling in love with her, but rather people seemingly falling out of love with her ‘adversary’.

Another phenomenon in the new world is how people stick to a football team year in and out no matter the vanity and tomfoolery but once a minister of the gospel makes a blunder, they have to really just maximize it and throw support for anyone who seem to be the victim.

People forget in a micro second how you ever blessed them, if they are offended.

And I am not talking about doctrinal disagreements, we have rights to disagree publicly with doctrine while retaining honour, especially when we have the apostolic authority to do so.

We have rights to even call a doctrine heretic while we retain honour for the minister.

We also have rights to dissociate from a preacher who is unrepentant about a false doctrine.

This case is different.

This is a singer, just sharing her bias against a song, however wrongly done, it was just an error.

This doesn’t warrant the mass exodus and defamation.

This is not about doctrine fundamentally, but about the human nature.

I assume there will be folks who have been blessed by Tope Alabi till yesterday, only to switch sides immediately an error was supposedly found in her.

Only to become offended and never listen to her anymore.

Over an issue that has nothing to do with them!

Years ago, I used to think a sexual scandal was the major attack that could be launched against a ministry, I was wrong! Very wrong!

Anything can become an attack if people decide to attack you!

Anything!

I mean anything!

If folks are offended with you, they will do anything to show you they are capable of running you down!

Anyways sha.

I love Tope Alabi. Hopefully she learns from this mistake and move on to greater things.
