To abandon something means to; “abdicate ,cast aside,cede,desert, depart from desist from ,dispense with,forego, forsake,give up,jilt,leave behind,quit,relinquish,renounce,
resign,retire,runout,surrender,withdraw from

Darkness simply means lack of light.
Darkness spiritually refers to being outside God, a state of sin, worldliness and carnality.

Darkness refers to the ways of the world. Darkness originated from the world in its former state (without glory, form, just void and out of light)

Darkness was the face of the earth and the deep in Genesis 1;2
The world was formerly in a stateness of darkness, lacking light and form(void).

A place of void(darkness) is a place to be avoided because the light of God is absent

The problem many have with abandoning darkness is that they love darkness than the light

John 3:19
And this is the condemnation that the light is come into the world and men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil.
Evil is perpetrated in darkness

But what is light?
Light is the glory, presence, dwelling and nature of God
Light is where God abides, dwells and what surrounds him

The difference between light and darkness is the glory and presence of God. This is why darkness disappears in the presence of light

Spiritually, Being in darkness is a life without Christ, without God’s glory and presence.
For where God is, the light is present

*When the light comes into your life, your life becomes light from the burdens, and yokes of darkness*

God is light

1john 1:5

[5] This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

The simplest way to abandon darkness is to accept light.
When one is in darkness, one is blinded, pathless, and purpose is void until light is found.
Nothing of glory can be done in darkness

* Light liberates from darkness and a product of darkness (sin and worldliness)

More exposition on light and darkness;

God is the king and originator of light

God is the king of light and dwells in light and no form of darkness can come before him (CCC Hymn 205, Olorun oba imole)

Christ is the light that chases away darkness and its operations

Luke 2;30
For my eyes have seen your salvation which you have prepared before the face of all peoples, a light to bring revelation to the gentiles

John 1:5( and the light shines in the darkness and the darkness did not comprehend it), read John 12;35, John 12;44

Wherever the father dwells, the heavenly glorious light is present (CCC Hymn 264v 4), for light is the dwelling of God

You may have seen bulb, the sun, the moon, the stars and other illuminating bodies, all are just a glimpse of what the true light is, and incomparable to the light from God because all this light are never everlasting, they fade away(CCC hymn 77).

Jesus is the light of God to the world(CCC Hymn 501, 502, 525v4)
He is not just a light, he is everlasting and shining light(216v2, Hymn 4)

All light have glory and reflective properties
Kristi oba ologo, kristi oba imole(king of light and glory). Christ is the king of glory( psalm 24, hymn 290;3, hymn 10, hymn 731)

The light of Christ is made reflective on those whom believe in him.

Where the light is, the glory of God shineth(Isaiah 60;1-3)

The World will continue to sink in total darkness if it refuses to accept Christ or repent( Won ri sinu okunkun, laife ronupiwada), See Isaiah 59;9-19

The moment you accept Christ as light(hymn 4, and exalt him as light (hymn 216v2), darkness disappears

God doesn’t reign where there is no light, dark forces live, operate and function in darkness.
This is why darkness refers to dark agents (witches, Satan, wizards, satanic forces and agents). CCC Hymn 532:2 confirms

To abandon darkness is to accept, believe and confess light = Christ

Darkness can never overcome light(hymn 455, 457), not to talk of the illuminating bodies(sun, moon, and stars)

Someone who is living in darkness is ignorant of Christ salvation, saving power from dark operations and oppressions

Faye sile sa to kristi, oun duro loke mimo re. The way to leave darkness is to run to Christ the light

There are dark forces conflicting and parading as light, how do we distinguish

*Mimo Mimo, Mimo ni imole, imole kristi to sokale sori awon ayanfe
Gbogbo awon to GBA imole yi(Christ) gbo, yo ri iye, iye aiyeraye

This dark forces operate and control the lives of those whom are ignorant of Christ.
It blindfolds them to see anything like light and renders their life in a void state

The holy spirit also liberates from darkness because it is also in light and revelation of shining glory( CCC hymn 235, 237:5, 263)

The holy spirit is a guide to abandoning darkness because it reveals the glory of the light(Hymn 635)

The moment you accept Christ as light, You have accepted salvation, and you exalt and praise light, darkness disappears and is abandoned

Celestial is an abode of light for those who worship in it, because it came from heaven above (CCC Hymn 288:5, and 7)
Celestial is not a place for darkness or dark forces but for only those who are dwelling in light

Christ is the light of the world to save the world(CCC Hymn 692)
Jesus Christ is illumination( hymn 781, 796)

We as believers and accepters of the light are the light of the world and must lit up the world so that the glory of God be manifest, and seen and all in darkness can abandon it and come to darkness(CCC hymn 602, 904, 616:2)

No matter how thick, deep darkness is, it disappears at the presence of light because it can never overcome light.

The difference between light and darkness is like a bean cake and honey.
The sweetness and taste differs greatly. Bean cake is coated with oil, yet can’t match the sweet glory of honey.

Darkness and light have no communion, relationship or agreement

2 Corinthians 6:14
And what communion hath light with darkness, and what concord hath Christ with Belial.

Meaning you can’t be in darkness and be in light, you will abandon one for the other. You can’t be fetish and godly at the same time

Isaiah 5:20
Woe unto them that call evil good and good evil, that put darkness for light and light for darkness

Dont let anyone call a dog, a monkey for you,
There is no other light except in Christ, through Christ.

Darkness can come parading as light but it is never light.

When you see true light, you will surely abandon darkness

The way to abandon darkness is

Isaiah 50;10
Who is among you that feareth the Lord, that obeyeth the voice of his servant that walketh in darkness and hath no light, let him trust in the name of the Lord and stay upon his God

John 12:36
While ye have light(Christ), believe in the light(Christ),that ye may be the children of light
