IS IT WRONG TO MAKEUP TO CHURCH
Makeup is the adorning and beautifying of the body
Though the bible do not focus on physical makeup, it promotes “the incorruptible adornment of the quiet and mild spirit.”— 1 Peter 3:3, 4 .
A. women in the scriptures adorned themselves and used makeup and jelweries
Rebekah, who married Abraham’s son Isaac, wore a gold nose ring, gold bracelets, and other expensive jewelry that she received as a gift from her future father-in-law. ( Genesis 24:22, 30, 53 ) Similarly, Esther accepted “beauty treatments” to prepare for her potential role as queen of the Persian Empire. ( Esther 2:7, 9, 12 ) These treatments apparently included the use of “cosmetics,” or “different kinds of makeup.”
B. God doesn’t judge a person by makeup or appearance but by their deeds
Just like wicked Queen Jezebel who used eye paint, or “eye shadow,” —2 Kings 9:30 who practiced sorcery and murder, was judged for her wicked deeds, not for her appearance or her makeup— 2 Kings 9:7, 22, 36, 37
There is nothing wrong in makeup but do not be consumed by it or turn it to an idol
The motive of your makeup should be to glorify God and bring honor to him
Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. — 1 Peter 3:3,4
Apostle Peter was simply stating that it is a mistake for women to put so much time and effort into their outward appearance that they ignore their inner man — the true source of their beauty.
Peter knew it was the custom of first-century wives and women in general to spend countless hours working on their face and hair, so he wanted to encourage them to work on their hearts as much as they worked on their outward appearance!
So do all you can to look beautiful, wife, and don’t feel guilty because you wear beautiful sutana or decent makeup
But at the same time, don’t forget that your spirit is the real you and the most beautiful part of you. God isn’t against your desire to work on your outward appearance; however, He wants you to spend at least an equal amount of time developing and beautifying your spirit.
Are you spending enough time “adorning” and making up your spirit the way God wants you to
The spiritual makeup in character and attitude is what is more important to God.
There are women who don’t makeup but are worse than a devil.
The bible is aware and doesn’t condemn makeup but it places 100% on spiritual makeup
AVOID TOO MUCH MAKEUP
Let the makeup be moderate and decent.
We must be very careful. Innocent things such as lipstick can easily become an idol in our lives.
Excess makeup might lead to sin, pride and vanity.
If you are wearing makeup to tempt others, then this is a sin.
The scriptures is against makeup for wrong purposes, sin, flirting and lust
Isaiah 3:16-17 “The LORD says, “ The women of Zion are haughty , walking along with outstretched necks, flirting with their eyes, strutting along with swaying hips, with ornaments jingling on their ankles. Therefore the Lord will bring sores on the heads of the women of Zion; the LORD will make their scalps bald.”
Do not make up in a way that will vex the holy spirit
makeup should be done in modesty, with pure motives, and in moderation. Always remember that God cares about your inner beauty and that should be your main concern. Our beauty should not be rooted in jewelry, hairstyles, or our clothing. These things fade. Our beauty should be rooted in Christ
1 Timothy 2:9-10 “ I also want the women to dress modestly , with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,
but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.”
